"Another installment of Botkins smallpox excitement was furnished last Saturday. It was reported that two deaths had occurred, and that three or four new cases had broken out. An investigation brought about the usual result--some truths and some falsehoods. A small child of Barney Shipper, living near Rina, died on Friday from smallpox, and on Friday night Mrs. John Bupp, of Botkins, died from the same disease. She was buried the same night. There have been no other cases. Mrs. Bupps's death was caused by a complication of other diseases."
