Bill was born March 22, 1937 to Matilda (Baker) and John W. Lomas in the Bennington, IL area. He married Dianne Biehl on January 12, 1958 at the First Christian Church in West Salem.
Bill was a member of the First Christian Church in West Salem. In his younger days, he worked in the oilfields and later, for the State of Illinois as a bridge maintenance crew member in nine counties, for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Lawrence and Johnie Lomas, two sisters: Lida Maroney and Bessie Miller and two nephews: Marvin and Buddy Lomas.
Bill is survived by his wife, Dianne, two daughters: Kim (Rick) Carlson and Lori (Cary) Moudy, all of West Salem, IL. He is also survived by two brothers: Robert (Mae) Lomas and Bernie (Joan) Lomas all of Olney, IL. He is also survived by four grandsons: Andrew (Justine) Northup, Caleb Moudy, Jacob Moudy and Jess Northup and one great grandson: Sawyer Cash Northup. Bill is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
He loved his family, fishing, gardening and good books. Above all else, he valued honesty and fairness, with little tolerance for those who did not. This value he passed on to his daughters and grandsons. Until the end, whenever possible, he could be found on the front porch with family and friends, drinking iced tea and waving at those who passed by.
