Sgt. Timothy D. Sayne, 31, of Reno, Nev., died Sept. 18 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 5th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Timothy was born teh son of Mary "Kathy" (Even) Sayne of Effingham and Robert Sayne. He married Thania Agustin on Oct. 17, 2009, in Reno, Nev. Survivors include his wife, Thania; son, Timothy Kalvin of Alaska; mother, Kathy Sayne of Effingham; brothers, Cory (Jamie) Sayne of Le Roy and Joey (Desiree) Sayne of Springfield; sister, Paige (George) Huntington of Tolono; three nieces and two nephews. Timothy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert B. and Rita Even.
