Tommy Joe Provence was born September 26, 1937 in Rufe, OK, the son of Leslie Provence and Louise (Dickerson) Provence and had lived his life in the Rufe and Ringold areas. He departed this life on March 7, 2011 after an almost two year battle with lymphoma cancer. His parents preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Rickey Don Provence. Tommy Joe married DeAnna Dail Hughes on May 7, 1959 in Hugo, OK.
Survivors include: his wife of 52 yars, DeAnna Dail Provence of the home; daughter, Judy Jenkins and husband, Andy of Ft. Worth, TX; son, T.J. Provence, Jr. of Ringold, OK; grandchildren: Justin Whisenhunt, Jr. of White Settlement, TX, Stephanie Coon of Ft. Worth, TX, Andrew Provence of Ringold and Caitlin Provence of Ringold; greatgrandchildren: Cheyenne, Justin, Rhys, Rhylee, Jessa and Michael, all of Ft. Worth, TX; brothers: Hardin Provence of Ft. Towson, OK, L.C. Provence of Rufe, OK, Arley Provence of Rufe, OK, Jimmy Provence of Rufe, OK, "June Bug" Provence of Sobol, OK and Rockey Provence of Moon, OK; numerous neices, nephews and cousins along with many other relatives and friends.
Services were held Friday, March 11, 2011 at Rufe Baptist Church with burial to follow at Rufe Cemetery.
