Alice was the 9th of 13 children born to John Thomas and Susan Jane Pilcher DULIN. Alice was born in Ritchie County, WV. Her family farmed and leased oil and gas rights on their 103-1/2 acres of land in Wirt & Ritchie Counties on "Flint Run" along the North Fork Hughes River.


Through the years Alice had several residences:

  • Marietta, Ohio when she married Riley Brown of Ritchie County, WV on 24 Apr 1894 in Washington County, Ohio
  • Petroleum, WV when she was named as sole heir of her brother, John Bell Dulin, in his Will dated 22 Dec 1921
  • Clarksburg, WV at the time of the death of her sister, Emma Dulin Hill, in May 1946.


Next to the graves of Alice & Riley Brown is the grave of their daughter, Iva Brown Enoch Knapp, who lived to be 102 years, 9 months, and 9 days of age.
