Betty Jane Brickel, 90, of Xenia, passed away Tuesday evening, August 23, 2011, at Hospitality Home East. She was born June 30, 1921, in Waynesville, Ohio, the daughter of Pearl Andrew and Laura Hazel Fudge Turner. She was a member of the Spring Valley Class of 1939, and retired from Hooven & Allison Co. after 33 years as a traffic manager and foreign purchasing agent. She enjoyed ball room dancing, playing golf, was a member of the Women's Republican Club, the Xenia Friends Church, and attended Faith Community United Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly (Calvin) Koogler, Jamestown, a son, Keith Brickel, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, two grandchildren, Bettina (Edward) Socci, New Jersey, and Derek (Karen) Bussey, Kentucky, five great-grandchildren, Dominic, John, Joey, Nicholas, and Brock, by two step-great-grandchildren, Caleb and Erica, by two sisters, Mildred Lynch, Xenia, and Dorothy Sill, Fairfield, by a brother, Roger Turner, Xenia, by numerous nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband of over sixty-six years of marriage, Willard F. Brickel, on September 21, 2004, by two sisters, Imogene Turner and Kathryn Butterworth, and by three brothers, Richard Turner, Clifford Turner, and George Turner. Betty Jane will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Services will be held at 10am, Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Rev. Rick Tettau officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Friday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia.
