Amanda Johnson Passes Away Friday
Mrs. Amanda Johnson, Widow of the late Hershel V. Johnson, Former county treasurer, passed away at the home
of her daughter, Mrs. Hildah Faye Hanley, in Anchorage, Kentucky, early Friday morning.
she had been in poor health, for some time, but her death, attributed to cerebral hemorrhage, was unexpected.
Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late George and Clarrissa Richey Phegley, and had reached the age of 76 before
she died. Surviving are the children, Mrs. Charlotte Johnson, City ( Scottsburg ), Emmett Johnson of Austin, Mrs. Ruth Munden,
Seymour, Ralph Johnson, Indianapolis, and Mrs. Hanley of Anchorage, Kent. 13 grand children, 1 great granddaughter, and
the following brothers and sisters, Thomas Phegley of Scottsburg, John Phegley of LaCrosse, Indiana, Harve Phegley of North
Vernon, and Mrs. Martha Nichols, Charles Phegley, and Benjamin Phegley, all of Austin. Funeral services were conducted
by L.B. Stewart and son at the Zoah Christian Church, Rev. Marion Henderson officiating, Burial was at Zoah.
