Teresa M. Akey nee Krieter, age 81, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2011. Teresa is survived by 6 children: Tim Akey of Crown Point, IN, Paul Akey of Delaware, Carolyn Ron Woods of New York, Becky Pat Williams of Texas, Ken Sherry Akey of Crown Point, IN, and Linda Rob Parkhurst of Demotte, IN; 14 grandchildren; 2 brothers: Al Pat Krieter and Jerome Joan Krieter; 2 sisters: Cel Kendera and MaryAnn King. She was preceded in death by her husband: John; parents: Andrew and Matilda Krieter; 6 brothers and sisters. Teresa was a longtime and active member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Altar & Rosary Society in Crown Point, IN. She was a secretary for the Crown Point Community School Corporation retiring in 1994 and was a graduate of St. Francis High School in Lafayette, IN. Teresa enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, spending time with her grandchildren, and was an avid “Cubs” fan. Teresa was known for caring for the less fortunate and for serving communion to countless homebound individuals. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre 2 blks east of Broadway at 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN, from 2:00 to 5:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral prayers will be said on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 9:15 AM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre in Crown Point, IN, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 321 E. Joliet St., Crown Point, IN at 10:00 AM with Fr. Pat Kalich officiating. Interment at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN. Memorial donations may be given to: St. Mary Catholic Church in Crown Point, IN.
