Mrs. Alta M. Taylor died at 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, September 23, 1973, in the Katy Memorial Hospital at Parsons where she had been a patient for the past week.
A resident of Edna since December of 1953, she had lived in Labette County for over 80 years. At her death she was 86 years, 7 months and 21 days old.
Mrs. Taylor was born on February 3, 1887, in Ava, Douglas county, Missouri, the daughter of Marshall and Minnie (Rawley) Bringle. At the age of five years, she moved with her family to Parsons.
On July 1, 1903, she and Cleve Taylor were united in marriage at Altamont. They farmed in the Altamont area until their retirement and removal to Edna. Mr. Taylor died on October 13, 1966.
Memberhsip was held in the United Methodist Church of Edna and the Kingston Embrodiary Club. She was also a charter member of the Mutual Benefit Club of Altamont.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Lester (Lovena) Hittle, Edna; two sons, Wayne R. Taylor, Coffeyville, and Eldon L. Taylor of Mound Valley; three sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Sheldon, Neodesha, Mrs. Jo Hagan and Mrs. Clara Williams, both of Napa, California; a brother, F. E. Bringle, Sutherlin, Oregon; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral servies were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 23 in the Edna United Methodist Church Rev. George Finley officiated.
Mrs. Fraye During sang "How Great Thou Art" and was accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Ronald Rhodes.
Pallbearers were Ralph Cary, W. V. Stine, Jr., Lawrence McKnight, Verl Shufelt, Clarence Graybill and Bernard Hansen.
Interment followed in the North Edna Cemetery under the direction of the Bates Funeral Home of Edna.
Memorials may be made to the Edna United Methodist Church.
