U.S. Congressman. He attended the New Athens Seminary, studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Greensburg, Kentucky. He was a member of the Kentucky State House of Representatives, (1842-43). In 1847, he was elected as a Whig to the Thirtieth Congress, serving until 1849. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he continued the practice of law until his death at age 62.
