Juan was born in Leon Mexico to Niebes Martinez & Franciso Contreras Hernandez. He married Albina Solano Landin in May 10, 1903. Juan came to the United States in 1909 from Mexico, settling first at Bendena Kansas, then to Horton Kansas, where he became associated with the Rock Island railroad as a machinist. He was naturalized in federal court. He lived there until 1939, at which time he transferred to Kansas City Kansas. After his retirement in 1950 he came to St Jospeh Mo., to make his home. They had 8 sons Juan L, Antonio L, Asiclo L, Leopoldo L, Francisco L ,Rosendo L ,Rodolfo L & Fermin L Hernandez. 2 daughters Sarah L Hernandez Quinto & Jovita L Hernandez Riojas.
