I don't really remember Snowy's mama, but I do remember that Snowy herself was born in April of 1977. We had moved to Fernwood on July 4th 1976 and I believe that the mother was a pet of my step-grandmothers.
I claimed her right away. I was very young, so of course I chose an odd name. I liked Snowy because she was mostly white, not to mention the fact that I was born and raised in Palm Springs, California where there was no snow and then moved to Fernwood, Idaho where there was an over abundance of it. Her middle name, Brown, was simply because she had brown spots on her and I couldn't come up with anything else.
I remember the day that Snowy had her litter of kittens. We stayed up with her while she had them. She was a good mama, always cleaning & feeding her young ones. I don't remember what happened to her litter exactly. I was young, but I have a slight recollection of one or two dying shortly after birth for some reason. As for the others, I know that at least 1 or more came up missing. We lived way out in the country and had a problem with wolves. The others I believe we gave away at the store one day.
