Mary is survived by her husband, Marvin E. Caraker of Cobden; a son, Jason (Brandi) Caraker of Cobden; five grandchildren, Julia, Mason and Susannah Hayward and Jade and Adrianna Caraker; a son-in-law, Doug Hayward of Anna; one brother, John (Delaine) Moreland of Cobden; a nephew, Shawn (Lorraine) Moreland of Cobden; a niece, Terri (John) Pasquino of Carbondale, many great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and many loving friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Candice Paige Hayward and a niece, Pamela Richards.
Mary was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cobden. Mary was also a member of the Eastern Star and the Women of the Moose. Mary graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's degree in nursing and retired from Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center in Anna where she worked as a registered nurse for many years.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Sue Caraker will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden with the Rev. Dr. Anette Westermark officiating. Burial will be in the Cobden Cemetery. Friends may call at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden on Friday, September 16 from 5 until 8:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Transplant Program at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman funeral home in Cobden and Anna.
