Rockdale Reporter - Thursday,October 8, 1925 -Mrs. N.J. Alford died very suddenly at her home in this city Monday moring about eight o'clock. Mrs. Alford had been in bad health for several years, and had suffered several heart attacks, and for the past two weeks has been quite ill. She was seated in a chair in the living room Monday morning when she was seized with the attack which resulted in her death.
Mrs. Alford was the widow of the late Nat J. Alford, and has lived in Rockdale and Milam county practically all her life. She was the daughter of W.D. Young and Mrs. Young who survives her. She was born in Arkansas and with her parents came to Milam County at the age of seven years. She was married to Mr. Alford in 1885 and they moved to Rockdale in the 1900, since which time she has continuously made this city her home.
Decedent is survived by four daughters and four sons as follows: Mrs. E.R.Wolf, Mrs. L.M. Baggett and miss Beulah, all of Rockdale, and Mrs. R.E. Crane of Temple. The boys are Ottie, Ernest, Zeke and Reddin. She is also survived by her mother and other relatives.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, her pastor, Rev. J.A. Hall of the Baptist Church, conducting religious services at the family home on North Main Street. Intement followed in the IOOF Cemetery. Pall Bearers were Messrs. H.O. Quebe, H.G. Perry, W.E. White, Walter Ramsel, E.A. Camp, and J.O. Newton.
