Funeral services for Fred G. Drahn, 90, of Monona were held March 12, at the St. Paul Evangelical-Lutheran Church with Rev. R. Langholz officiating.
The body lie in state at the church from 12 o'clock noon until the time of the services. Burial was in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
Fred George Drahn, the son of Henry Drahn and Caroline (nee Aulerich), was born Feb. 29, 1876 in Farmersburg Township. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on October 26, 1890 after instruction given by Pastor Graening. He received his education in the rural school of the community.
On November 24, 1898 he was united in marriage with Emilie Elizabeth Kaiser.
Mr. Drahn farmed near Monona until 1941 when he retired to Monona. He also served his community and church in many ways through the years. He served as director in his rural school district for many years, was a member of the Monona Creamery Board, and was president of the Farmers State Bank of Monona. At the Lutheran church he sang in the choir for a number of years, he was a member of the Brotherhood, he served on the Church Council and was treasurer of the Building Committee when the annex was added to the building in 1934. He enjoyed life also after his retirement and was alert and interested in life around him until the time of his death. He was a dignified Christian gentleman and appreciated the finer things in life.
He bcame ill on Tuesday morning. We were permitted to have devotions together before he left for the hospital. He passed away Wednesday morning at the age of 90 years and 9 days.
