MARVEL MAXINE GROARK

Funeral services for Marvel Groark were conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs. Bishop Ben Hansen conducted the service. Interment was in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Micah Carr, Tom P. Carr, Ron Alexander, Ray Alexander, Rex Headd and Tom Zvenlsdorff.

Mrs. Groark, 81, of 1413 Lowell, Rock Springs, died on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.

A longtime resident of Rock Springs and a former resident of Iowa, Mrs. Groark had been in ill health for the past three weeks.

She was born on Dec. 23, 1918, in Chariton, Iowa, the daughter of the late James and Alice Montgomery Sawtell. She attended schools in Iowa and Rock Springs and was a graduate from Rock Springs High School. She married Erwin Groark in Rock Springs on June 28, 1940.

Mrs. Groark's pursuits included spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Erwin Groark of Rock Springs; one daughter, Trudy Hale of Rock Springs; one brother, Carl Sawtell of California; one sister, Jackie Challman of Parowan, Utah; one grandson, Richard Lee Hiner Jr. of Salt Lake City; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Groark was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Alyss and Catherine; one brother, Jimmy; and three children at birth.
