Forest County, PA. Press: "Democratic Vindicator" of March 5, 1896. "Mrs. Patty Clary, mother of L.A. Clary, died at her home in Sandy Lake on Sunday Evening."

Recent Deaths

"At 10 o'clock Wednesday forenoon the funeral of the late Mrs. Patty Clary, who died at her home on Christian Hill at 11 P.M. last Sunday, was held from the M.E. church. Services were conducted by Rev. J. M. Foster, who preached from her text, For I know that my Redeemer liveth." Interment occurred in Oak Hill cemetery. The pall-bearers were F. M. Allison, T. S. Bailey, G. W. Turner, D. C. Reed, Nathan Patton and Samuel Bowers. Mrs. Clary was in her 71st year, having been born Sept. 3, 1825, at Centerville, Cattaraugus county, N. Y. Her husband, Joseph Clary, died about 8 years ago. She was a member of the Royal Templars, and was a loyal and consistent member of the M.E. church, to which she belonged for the past 55 years, 35 of which, the length of time she has made her home in Sandy Lake, she has been an active member of the society her. Up to the time of her last illness, which was of short duration, Mrs. Clary had enjoyed remarkably good health, and her death, the immediate cause of which was strangulated hernia, was very unexpected. By her death, her family, the societies to which she belonged, the community in which she lived and the church loves a member that can illly be spared. Deceased leaves four children to mourn her loss, Leonard A. and Benjamin S., of this place; James A., of Jamestown, N. Y., and Mrs. Baskin, of Stoneboro; also one brother, H. R. Armstrong, of Henderson, and two sisters, Mrs. Jesse Perrine, of Utica, and Mrs. Rev. J. W. Thompson, of Sherman city, Mich."

NOTE: PATTY AMSTRONG CLARY was the youngest of ten known children born to Amon 'Amos' Armstrong (1782-1852) and Martha 'Patty' Doty Armstrong (1785-1852) originally of New York. (Her grandfather, Asa Doty, was a Revolutionary War Patriot)
