Mary Beckham Aiken Garber, 86, widow of Don M. Garber, died January 7, 2004. She is survived by two brothers, Jesse E. Aiken and Thomas W. Aiken; four daughters, Sally Rollings and her husband, Betsy Miller, Pat Garber, and Nancy St. Germain and her husband; a son, Don S. Garber and his wife; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a number of fond nieces and nephews; and beloved friend, Mary Biglow.

A graduate of American University, Mrs. Garber earned a Masters degree in elementary counseling from UVa and taught 5th and 6th grades at Short Pump Elementary for 25 years. She was an honor member of Delta Gamma Sorority and a charter member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She was a devoted wife for 61 years, a loving mother, an avid gardener and birdwatcher, a child advocate, and a nature lover.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 11. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Tuckahoe Rescue Squad.
