Margaret was the daughter of Zachariah and Elizabeth (Skinner) Sproles. Her parents were some of the early settlers of Holmes County having moved there from the Carolinas. Margaret was born and raised in Holmes County Mississippi. She married Harmon Chavis and they had a daughter Theodorena. Harmon died when Theodorena was 13 months old. Margaret next married Henry W. Alexander and they had a son Henry Jr. Margaret and her daughter lived their later years in Greenwood, Mississippi. Her son Henry Alexander, Jr, resided in Grenada, Mississippi.
