Exilda Wagner, 88, of New Holstein died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at the Calumet Homestead in New Holstein.
She was born Sept. 13, 1913, in Charlesburg, a daughter of the late Jacob and Barbara Meier Steiner. On April 21, 1938, she married Edwin Wagner at St. Charles Church in Charlesburg. He preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1976.
The Wagners lived on a farm northeast of New Holstein for 24 years. In 1960, they moved to Van Buren Street in New Holstein. Exilda had been employed at the Salvatorian Center in New Holstein for 16 years. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein, the Christian Women's Society, Catholic Knights Branch 118 of Charlesburg and the Senior Citizens of New Holstein. Exilda had also volunteered at the Salvatorian Center Mission Warehouse.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty (Ervin) Arenz of Chilton and Rose (Jerry) Kotlowski of Plymouth; seven grandchildren, Audrey (Gary) Watry, Andrew (Gloria) Arenz, Alan (Jody) Arenz, Debra (Randy) Brook, Denise (Randy) Paul, Brian Kotlowski and fiancee Nadine Rooker, and Jo Anne Kotlowski; 10 greatgrandchildren; one brother, Otto Sterner of New Holstein; and one sister, Sedona Freund of New Holstein.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edwin; one sister, Marie Roehrig; an infant brother, Benedict; a brother, Isidore Steiner; two brothers-in-law, Herbert Freund and Harvey Roehrig; and one sister-in-law, Armella Steiner.

Services: Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. Rev. Prank Weber, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at Sippel Funeral Home in New Holstein and again on Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. when brief family services will be held. The Christian Women's Society will recite the Rosary at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Sippel Funeral Home is serving the family.
