LaVaughn, passed away after a courageous nine year battle with leukemia. He lived in the area his entire life. Mr. Grooms was a farmer for many years in the Springhead area. He was predeceased by two sons, Stephen and Gary Grooms; brothers, Robert McDaniel, Clarence and Jerry Grooms; and sisters, Elizabeth Kicklighter, and Anna Jewel Grooms. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Sylvia Grooms, son, LaDon Grooms of Plant City; daughter, Debra Carr of Brandon, Fla.; and sister, Joyce Brown of Plant City. He was a wonderful husband, father, and brother. LaVaughn will be deeply missed. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at Wells Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mitch Weissman officiating.
