Charles C. Rhorer married Harriet E. Rominger (b. 1836 in Indiana; died 1863 at Bartholomew County, Indiana. Charles and Harriet were the parents of two known children, a boy and a girl.

Note his grave marker reads Rhorer, even though many records show him as Rohrer, or Rhohrer. He doesn't seem to be listed in the 1850 census, though he may be, using a spelling not recognized. In 1880 his only surviving child, Ida, said her father was born in Indiana, but she said Germany on subsequent censuses, though she was only two when he died, so she may not have known for certain where he was born.
