Mildred "Milly" Fossell, Thief River Falls, MN went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Thursday, September 08, 2011, at Life Care Medical Center in Roseau, MN.


Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Evangelical Covenant Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Bert Foster officiating. Burial will be at Karlstad Cemetery, Karlstad, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, September 9, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN.

Mildred Dahin was born September 29, 1923 to Oscar W. and Carrie (Nordstrom) Dahlin in Comstock Township, Marshall County, MN. She was baptized January 20, 1924 by Reverend Drotts and confirmed in 1938. She grew up on a farm Northeast of Radium, MN and attended Edgewood country school. Milly graduated from Warren High School in Warren, MN with the class of 1942. She then went on to Teacher's Training in Warren, graduating in 1944. She taught country schools for four years.

On August 25, 1946, Milly was united in marriage to Lawrence "Larry" Fossell. They moved to Minneapolis, MN, where Milly was employed at Sears, Roebuck for 38 years. She ended her career as being the first female collection manager in the Northwest Territory. The couple wintered in Tucson, AZ for eleven winters. In 1996, they moved to Thief River Falls to retire. Larry passed away February 8, 2001 and Milly continued to live in Thief River Falls.

Milly was very active in her church, both in Minneapolis and Thief River Falls. She was currently a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church, Covenant Women, Christian Women's Club, NWMC Auxiliary and volunteered at the Heritage Center for several years. While living in Minneapolis, she volunteered at Northwestern Hospital.

She is survived by a brother, Winton Dahlin of Thief River Falls, MN; nine godsons as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Milly was preceded in death by husband, Larry and parents.
