Winton Louis Dahlin was born January 2, 1930, on the family farm Northeast of Radium, MN the son of Oscar and Carrie (Nordstrom) Dahlin. Winton attended Edgewood Country School in Comstock Township, Marshall County, MN. He cross-country skied to school all winter with several of the neighbor kids and worked hard over the years on the family farm.
He met Theresa Larson at the roller-skating rink in Thief River Falls in 1951 and the couple was married on June 29, 1952, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls. Following their marriage, they made their home in Thief River Falls. To this union three sons were born, David, Rick and Dan.
On October 13, 1952, Winton went to work at Forsberg's Inc. in Thief River Falls and has continued to work there since. He started in the paint department which he ran for 38 years. In 1990 he became the manager of the parts department in the stockroom.
Winton served as a scout leader for over 30 years which led him to his enjoyment of the outdoors and camping. He and his family spent a lot of time camping in many areas of the country. It started out in a tent and ended up with a motor home. Winton was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1952.
Survivors include his sons, Rick (Charmaine) Dahlin and Dan Dahlin all of Thief River Falls; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Theresa in 2001; son, David (Sue) Dahlin; sister, Mildred Fossell in 2011; and a sister in infancy.
