Gaffney, SC - Mrs. Carrie Ray Vassey, died at Spartanburg General Hospital at 10:15 a.m. Turesday, Sep 3, 1968 following a lengthy illness. Wife of Luther C. Vassey and dauther of Philip and Madora Simmons Ray. Member of State Line Community and State Line Baptist Church. Survivors included: four sons; Thurmond, Luther C., Jr., Carroll R., and Russell Vassey; four daughters, Mrs. Gould Hamrick, Mrs. Carl Blackwell, Mrs. Eckles Hamrick, and Mrs. Haynes Goforth; one brother, Walter Ray; one sister, Mrs. Maggie Vassey; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
