Mr. Mayne was a member of the Little Poplar Creek Baptist Church. He was a United States Navy veteran of 20 years and served as a Chief Petty Officer. He later joined the Navy Reserves for 10 years.
Mr. Mayne was well-known Knox County farmer. On March 7, 1953 he united in marriage with Beatrice Fuson, who preceded him in death on April 1, 1986. On Jan. 1, 1987, he united in marriage with Othella gibson Cox.

Services were conducted at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel Sept. 4 at 2 p. m. with Rev. Arnold Petery and Rev. Henry Hall officiating. Interment was in the Wilson Cemetery on Goldens Creek in Knox County
