Mrs. Klemm Dead

Wife of Supt. of Ellis Schools Passed Away at 5:00 p.m. Yesterday, Following Operation September 2, 1920
(Ft. Scott Tribune)

The death of Mrs. Ione Parrish-Klemm, aged 25 years, wife of Daniel Klemm, Superintendent of Schools, Ellis, Kansas, occurred yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock due to the shock following an intra-nasal operation near the base of the brain, yesterday. She had been bothered with the trouble for several years. Her death is a shock to relatives as the patient had rallied after the operation and the end came suddenly.
Mrs. Klemm was feeling unusually well and on Sunday attended church services and had visited numerous friends. Mr. and Mrs. Klemm had been visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs S. E. Parrish, for the past week, stopping on their way from Wilson , Kansas, to Ellis where they were moving. Mr. Klemm believing her better had started for Ellis but he was recalled, arriving at noon with her brother, Fred Parrish.

Ione Parish was born near El Dorado Springs, Mo., February 18, 1895. Fourteen years ago she came to Fort Scott with her parents, residing west of the city. She was united in marriage to Daniel Klemm, August 13, 1919. Their little son, Kenneth Paul, born in June, lived but a few weeks.

Surviving her are her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Parrish, of west of Fort Scott, and the following sisters and brothers, Fred, of Ellis, Kansas, Harry, of Fort Scott, Mrs. J. E. Carriker, of Fort Scott, Lee, Lynn and Nora at home. She leaves a wide circle of friends who feel her death kenly (sic).

Mrs. Klemm graduated from the local high school with the class of 1915. She was a brilliant scholar and for two years she taught at Kirwin, Kansas. She was a member of the First Methodist church. Unfortunately her sister, Mrs. Carriker, will be unable to be here for the funeral as she is traveling on the Pacific coast and a message is unable to reach her.

The funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow from the First M. E. church. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
