Jean Phillippe Brugier was born March 13, 1812 in Weissenburg, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France to Celastin Brugier and Catherine Stocker. He married Elizabetha Wolf on July 29, 1845 in Durkheim, Germany and they had two daughters, Magdalena Elizabetha and Maria "Barbara". He came with his wife and daughters in August 1848 to Ebenezer, New York. He left the Ebenezer Society and settled with his father in Cincinnati , Ohio. He eventually returned to the Amana Society where he died in Amana in 1881.
