Mrs. Elta Mae Crowder, 86, of Florence, passed away Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Annex.Mrs. Crowder was a member of Highland Baptist Church. She attended Florence schools and later Larimore Business College.She was employed by Sears Roebuck Department Store for many years.The funeral service will be Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. in Elkins Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Bud Mayfield officiating. Burial will follow in Florence City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.Her parents, John W. and Minnie Lou Daily, husbands, Neil Rogers and John Crowder, a daughter, Jean M. Rogers, a sister, Estelle McCaleb and a brother, Walter Daily, precede Mrs. Crowder in death.Mrs. Crowder is survived by a brother, Wanner W. Daily and wife, Wylene, of Florence; sisters, Eddie Lee and husband, Bill, and Ivadelle Aston and husband, Clyde, all of Florence; and a host of nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be nephews.In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Building Fund of Highland Baptist Church, 219 Simpson St., Florence, AL 35630, in memory of Mrs. Crowder.
