Bertie Marie Gerding, 80, of Boonville went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 22, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Visitation for Bertie will be 12 to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at Davis Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. following the visitation with Rev. Roger McMurry officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin.
Bertie Marie Gerding was born in Franklin, Mo., Nov. 18, 1930, the daughter of Z.M. O'Bryan and Bessie P. Johnson O'Bryan. Bertie married Carl E. Gerding May 25, 1951, in Harrison, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm in rural Howard County until his passing and then moved to town. She was a member of the Four Square Church in New Franklin. Bertie loved to garden and cook in her spare time. Most of all her love was for her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Bertie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl, five brothers and four sisters. She is survived by son, Carl L. Gerding and wife Carol of Marshall, MO., two daughters; Glenda D. Gerding of Fayette, Mo. And Judy Cureington and husband Tony of Cedar Park, Texas. Also surviving is a brother Earl O'Bryan of Boonville and two sisters; Betty Willis of Mexico, Mo. And Zora Long of Imperial Beach, Calif. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Dominic Gerding and wife Tashina of Boonville, Rachel Kubina and husband Craig of San Diego, Calif., Nicole Cureington of Cedar Park, Texas, and a great-granddaughter Evy Kubina of San Diego, Calif.
The Family would like to send special thanks out to her caregivers, Dr. James Brocksmith and his staff and the MICU Unit at Boone Hospital Center.
