Samuel Brungart born 4/21/1825 He possessed an unusual mental ability & an excellent memory which enabled him to make the most of any opportunities that came his way. He was a large man & did much hard work in his lifetime. Firm & steadfast in his ideas he was a staunch Democrat & a Lutheran in his faith. He married Harriet Walker the daughter of Daniel & Harrah (Erhart) Walker.
The young couple began housekeeping in a small home in Brush Valley near the present site of Walker's Mills & then moved to Madisonburg. After his father's death he secured his father's farm by paying $4000 . In 1868 he built a fine barn & remoded the other out buildings.
