He was the son of Jacob Brungart, Sr. & Margaret Gephardt. He married Elizabeth Redabach and their children included William, Jacob & Mary.

Frederick Brungart Sr the oldest living male representative of the most honored & respected families of Nittany Valley was born in Miles twp. Brush Valley Centre County Pennsylvania the son of Jacob & Margaret (Gephart) Brungart. The family is a numerous one & was founded by Martin Brungart who came from the vicinity of Hanver, York County.
In the family of this worthy couple was Jacob Brungart our subject's father who was born 1/15/1786 & died 9/5/1862. When just a boy he went with his family to Brush Valley where he married a Miss Weaver by whom he had 3 children: Mary Polly who married John Heckman, Susan who married John Weaver & John. For his 2nd wife Jacob married Margaret Gephart & there were born the following children: Martin, George, Jacob, Frederick, Samuel Catherine wife of Adam Bair, Margaret wife of Jacob Schmeltzer, Regina wife of John Shaffer & Sarah wife of William Johnson. Jacob was one of the most successful, thrifty & highly esteemed farmers. Three of the farms were located in Nittany Valley which he gave to 3 of his sons John, George & Frederick.
Frederick the subject of this sketch learned his lessons at the Brungart school at the east end of Bruch valley. He early became familiar with the duties of farming taking loads of grain to Lewisburg. In the spring of 1842, he took up residence at his present home in Lamar Clinton County,
