Service: Abel Crandall served as Sergeant in Fletcher's regiment of Vermont Militia. His name appears on a payroll dated June 23, 1781 of Capt. John Powell of Stafford, company of Militia in Alarm of Bernard and Royalton, which shows he was in service ten days. His name appears on Pay Table Office October 27, 1781, for party of men that served in the State service under Brig. Gen. Ollcott in the month of November 1780. Service 17 days. His name appears on payroll dated Windsor, April 13, 1781, of Capt. Timothy Brush's company of militia employed in guarding and scouting at the time fo the alarm at Newbury under the direction of Col. Peter Olcott, October 19, 1780.
Service six days. Adjutant General's Office, Washington, D.C.,

Remarks: Abel Crandall is buried in Hillside Cemetery, at Champion, Jefferson Coounty, N.Y. If his wife is buried there her grave has disappeared. Some of their children were born at Chatford, Ct. (?) All married at Champion, N.Y.
