Funeral Services For Pioneer Lady

Impressive funeral services for the late Mrs. Alice C. Pugmire were held Monday at one o’clock from the Fourth Ward Chapel, being conducted by Bishop J. W. Jones.

The services were opening by sing, “Oh, My Father” by the Choir and Opening Prayer by Charles L. French. The choir then sang “Sometime We’ll Understand”. Bishop C. C. Shirley of Fish Haven spoke at length on the splendid character of deceased, as also did J. W. Findlay, Counselor from Fish Haven who had known Mrs. Pugmire in Scotland. A beautiful vocal duet, “The End of a Perfect Day” was rendered by Mrs. Joe Burgoyne and Mrs. William Clark. They were accompanied on the piano by Miss Lillas Swensen and on the violin by Arnold Tueller. Other speakers were J. J. Sarbach and President Ed C. Rich of Montpelier. In closing the choir sang “I Need Thee Every Hour” and benediction was pronounced by Arnold Tueller. The grave at the Montpelier Cemetery, where interment was made, was dedicated by Frank M. Williams.

Many friends and acquaintances of the deceased attended the services and the floral offerings were beautiful.

Mrs. Pugmire passed away in Pocatello on Friday, November 27. While crossing a street in Pocatello on November 11, she was struck with a truck and received injuries which were the cause of her death.

Mrs. Pugmire was 66 years of age and a native of Scotland, but came to Utah when she was three years of age. When a young girl she came to Bear Lake Valley with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Gordon and has resided in Fish Haven most of the time.

She is survived by the following sons and daughters: L. C. Pugmire of Fish Haven, Mrs. A. M. Burke of Montpelier, Nello Pugmire of Darwin, California and H. H. Pugmire of Pocatello. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters, Joseph S. Gordon and Mr. Susan Thompson of Blackfoot, James F. Gordon and R. J. Gordon of Los Angeles, California and T. W. Gordon of Salt Lake City.

Funeral For Mrs. Alice C. Pugmire

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Fourth Ward L.D.S. chapel for Mrs. Alice C. Pugmire of St. Charles, who died at a Pocatello hospital Friday where she had been confined since November 11th. In the afternoon of November 11th, Mrs. Pugmire, who was over 70 years of age, was struck by a taxicab on a street intersection in Pocatello and knocked to the pavement, receiving a severe bruise in the back of her head, which was the cause of death.

Mrs. Pugmire is survived by the following children: Mrs. Arthur Burke of this city, L. C. Pugmire, Fish Haven; Nello Pugmire of Darwin, Calif.; H. H. Pugmire of Pocatello. Mrs. Pugmire had been a resident of Bear Lake county for many years.
