SACRED
To the memory of
DANIEL J. POTTER

Private of Company A, 14th Regt Mass.
Volunteers, who departed this life
At Fort Albany, VA
Nov. 26, 1861, aged 22 years
Where he had to serve his Country
in her hour of trouble.
The members of his Company have
caused this monument to be placed
here as a token of their marked
respect and esteem.
As a soldier he was always at his post
of duty, and beloved as a companion.
As he lived a christian,
so he died.

"Rest Loved one, rest amid our grief,
Our earliest prayers arise;
That all who loved him here on earth,
May meet him in the skies."
