Peter Barbie Rites Conducted Monday

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Holland and Bonine Funeral home for Peter Barbie, prominent pioneer of the Inverness community, who died suddenly of a heart attack in Illinois. Services were conducted by Rev. H. A. Ritter of Grace Evangelical church, Rudyard.
Mr. Barbie was returning by car to Inverness with his wife when death came. He had stopped the car to look at a road sign when he suddenly collapsed.
He was born at Novasela, Hungary, and came to Montana in 1910 from Cavaleer, N. Dak. He retired from farming three years ago and moved to Detroit, where he was married February 10, 1944 to Angela Hoenig Mehr. His first wife, Katherine Hoenig, passed away December 19, 1940, and is buried at Highland cemetery in Havre.
Besides his wife, Mr. Barbie is survived by three sons, Alvin of Inverness, John of the U.S. Marines, and Willie of Detroit; a daughter, Mrs. Melvin Carlson of Havre, and a stepson, Max Mehr of Detroit. A sister, Mrs. Otto Waldow of Culbertson, and eight grandchildren also survive.
