Born Aug. 15, 1909, in Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late Adam Henry and Jennie (Britcher) Sheaffer. Her husband, John W. Prye, died Oct. 29, 1978.
Surviving are: a son, Howard S. "Bud" Prye, Springfield, VA; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, three brothers and two sisters.
Early in life, she worked at the American Viscose Corporation, drove bus for Lewistown Transportation Company and later owned and operated Prye's Store, Lewistown RR4 until 1971.
She was a member of Evangel Baptist Church, Lewistown.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Darrell G. Wireman officiating. Interment was in Juniata Memorial Park. Friends called 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
