He was born March 17, 1889, in Campbellsport, son of Anthony and Katherine Haessly. He was married in Oshkosh to Miss Esther M. Frohrib on Sept. 22, 1919, following which they moved to Fond du Lac.
A Chicago & Northwestern Railroad conductor for more than 49 years, he retired in January, 1957. He was a member of Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen 516 and Chicago & Northwestern Veterans Association.
Surviving are his wife, Esther; two sons, Gordon Haessly, Fond du Lac, and SCI Joseph Haessly Jr., with the Navy at Great Lakes, Ill; three brothers, Clarence Haessly, Fond du Lac, Leo Haessly, Tomah, and Matt Haessly, in Illinois; and four grandchildren.
The body will lie in state at Candlish Chapel, Fond du Lac, after 2 p.m. Friday. Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home there, with the Rev B. J. Stecker officiating, Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Oshkosh.
