A communication was received Wednesday by County Clerk Angus from R B. Briggs, asking in behalf of Tom Breckenridge, permission to become an inmate of the county poor house. Breckenridge is a colored youth who for the past ten years has been an employee of Mr. Briggs. Last fall he was taken sick and has since been cared for by Mr. Briggs at his home ranch near Big Timber, but as his condition had become such that he required constant medical attention it was thought advisable to have him admitted to the county poor house. The commissioners granted the petition and Breckenridge was brought up to Livingston yesterday and taken out to the county farm.

Thomas Breckenridge, who has been suffering for several months with consumption and last month became an inmate of the poor house, died at that place on the night of the 9th inst., aged 21 years. The funeral took place Saturday and the body was interred in the county's burial ground. Deceased was a colored lad who had spent the past ten years upon the range in the capacity of cowboy, working alternately for Mr. Murray and R B. Briggs. He was cared for during his sickness the past winter by Mr. Briggs, and attempted to resume his range occupation this spring, but hemorrhage of the lungs necessitated abandoning all work and he was brought to the poor farm for care and necessary medical attention.
