Clarence E. Kouts, 93, of Evansville, died Sept. 12, 2000, at Columbia Health Care.
He retired in 1969 as a district engineer after 40 years with Indiana Bell. He was a 1929 graduate of Purdue University.
He was a life member of Hoosier Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the National Society of Professional Engineers.
He was a former member of Washington Avenue Presbyterian Church. He was active in Boy Scouts all his life and recieved the Silver Beaver Award.
Surviving are a daughter, Constance Fenwick of Evansville, four sons, Russell E. of Carmel, Ind., Paul C. of Marion, Ill., Thomas P. of Eldorado, Ill., and John S. of Indianapolis; a brother Robertof South Bend, Ind.; and 15 gandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
His wife of 66 years, Florence, died in 1996 and a daughter Anne Atkins, died in 1991.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Browning Funeral Home, the Rev. Shane O'Neill officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.
Friends may call 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association.
