James Barnes Adams, born at North Moreland, Wyoming county, Penn'a, Aug. 23, 1835. Died Aug. 17, 1906, being 71 years, 11 months and 26 days of age.

In the year of 1852 he came from Pennsylvania to Lake county, this state, thence to Kansas, residing in that state several years, later returning to this county.

At the age of seventeen he was convicted and won to the ranks of the Master upon reading Baxters "Call to the Unconverted," joining the Methodist Episcopal church, and has been a faithful follower of Christ up to his death.

At the time our country was in distress he answered the call to arms, being enrolled in Company E, 9th Regiment of Indiana Infantry, on the 16th day of December, 1862.

On the 15th day of Aug., 1865, he received an honorable discharge from service by reason of disability, the principal cause was acute pneumonia, being contracted while in the service.
