Emanuel attended school in a log cabin and David Pippenger was his first teacher. His father, Samuel, and uncle, Emanuel Cripe, purchased the first stove for the school house and waited two years for their money. Mr. Cripe having but limited early educational advantages, is a self made man. In Sept. 1851 he married Fanny Mikesell, by whom he had ten children. Mr. Cripe owns 160 acres of valuable land and is a farmer. He is a worthy member of the German Baptist Church. Written by Blance Cripe Zook, granddaughter of Emanuel.
