Tobias Cripe
Dec. 4, 1841 - May 29, 1923 
Tobias Cripe, 81 years old, died last night at 1:30 o'clock at his home, 1311 South Main street, after an illness of seven months with a complication of diseases.
He was born in Elkhart county to Samuel and Susan (Mikesell) Cripe and had been a lifelong resident of the county.  
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, six sons, Simeon, Jacob, Samuel and Jessee, of Chicago, Elijah, and Henry, of Goshen; three daughters, Mrs. John Cripe of Nappanee; Mrs. Chauncey Alwine, of Goshen; and Mrs. George Weaver of Elkhart, 33 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. John Hoovens, of Goshen; and Mrs. Elizabeth Neal of Goshen. Mr. Cripe was a member of the Church of the Brethren.  
Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon at three o'clock at the home, and burial will be made in Oak Ridge cemetery.
The time of the funeral is contingent on the recovery of a son, Henry Cripe, and members of his family, who are suffering from an attack of ptomaine poisoning.
