Geneva Hansen left us on Oct. 21, 2009, to join her beloved husband, Oscar Hansen, who preceded her in death in 1980. She was born May 1, 1915, in Troy, Ore., to Joseph and Bessie Friddles who had homesteaded in the area.

She was also preceded in death by her three sisters and their husbands, older sister Ella (Wynn) Finley, younger sisters Alta (Ed Wilkenson)and broth-(Jim Wilkenson) and Ozelle (Jim) Scoggin and brother-in-law Elbert Neal and nephew Keith Neal, as well as two great friends Posey-dog and Sissy-dog.

She is survived by nieces Dorene (Jay) Rugg, Darlene Wolff, Ramona McDowell; nephew Larry Scoggin (Rosalie) and 1their families; as well as sisters-inlaw Betty Carrol, Clara Muerer, Rachael Lewis and Eleanor Nuxol.

Since there were no boys in the family to help with life on the farm, the girls learned to do just about everything. Mom and her older sister, Ella, rode horseback to school in a one-room schoolhouse near their home, then attended high schools in Flora, Ore., Anatone, Wash., and graduated from Asotin, Wash., high school.

She met her husband, Oscar, in Anatone and they were married in 1934 and had a long and loving marriage. They had two children, Donald and Doris and they devoted their life to them.

Most of their life was spent farming but in 1955 they left that life, moved to Coeur d'Alene and soon developed a love for the town and the friendly people. They both worked at Montgomery Ward for many years where they met and became good friends with many people. They purchased their first home here and made it a place everyone loved to visit, especially family young and old. They kept a beautiful yard, large vegetable garden as well as berries and fruit trees.

When our dad passed away, mom carried on until the work became too much and she sold the home that had meant so much to them and moved to Everett to be closer to her family.

Mom is survived by her son, Don (Linda) and daughter Doris (Jerry); six grandchildren, Jerri Lynn, Laurie (Lou), Michael (Janet), Kristie, Tami and Shelley (Greg) and 11 great-grandchildren, Josh, Cari, Jeramy, Karlie, Jessica, Ashley, Scott, Jessica, Brandon, Maddox and Trevor; and Baloney-dog and Ryleedog. Also Doris (Jerry) granddaughter Jerri Lynn and grandson Michael (Janet) and great-grandchildren Scott, Jessica and Brandon.

Mom will be greatly missed by a family who loved her very much. Services were held Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene, followed by refreshments. Burial was at Forest Cemetery, Coeur d'Alene.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the annual "Christmas For All" drive in Coeur d'Alene, P.O. Box 9000, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814, in care of "Christmas For All" program or a favorite charity.
