Helen Maclin Coulter, 83, of Chattanooga, TN passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Helen was born in Crockett County, Tenn. She was employed with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services in Atlanta for several years. After moving to Chattanooga, she met and married Robert J. Coulter and together they owned and operated R.J. Coulter Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace. Helen was a licensed funeral director in Tennessee.

After retiring, they resided in Boca Grande and Sarasota, Fla. for 20 years. They moved back to Chattanooga in 2000.

Helen was a faithful member of Mountain Creek Church of Christ.

She served as president of Lake Hills Garden Club, Daytonia Garden Club and was a member of the La Sertoma Club.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kipra Allison Coulter.

Survivors include her husband, Robert J. "Bob" Coulter; daughter, Deborah Coulter (Ed) English, of Chattanooga; son, Jeff (Dawn) Coulter, of Soddy-Daisy; grandsons, John Coulter (Cara) English, of Chattanooga and Nic Coulter, of Soddy-Daisy; granddaughters, Kerri (Brian) Case, of Knoxville and Kelly (Morgan) Johnson, of Red Bank; four great-grandchildren, Ayden Case, Alex Case, Skyler Johnson and Brooke Johnson; sister, Dottie (Bill) Kates, of Cookstown, N.J.; brother, Warren (Janice) Maclin, of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with Minister Eddie Reachard and Minister Gary Massey officiating.

Interment will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

John English, Nic Coulter, Brian Case, Randall Smedley, Don Headrick and Don Leiderman will serve as pallbearers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Creek Church of Christ, 981 Runyan Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37415.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, TN.
