Joe was united in marriage in 1980 to Tammy Knowles in St. Joseph, Missouri and to this union daughter, Angela Sue was born. After moving to Friend, Nebraska, he was blessed with a second marriage in 1987 to Terri Hulse and to this union three children, Kyle, Amy and TJ were born. After graduating, Joe began his career as a truck driver with his father, traveling to every state in the continental United States except the state of Maine. He was also employed as a mechanic for Brother's Equipment in Friend and also worked as a flooring installation specialist.
Joe loved music. He was a very talented musician and singer. Joe had a wonderful voice, played the guitar, and was an excellent impersonator of Elvis. He started several bands of his own and played many other instruments as well as providing lighting and sound. Joe had an album dedicated in his name by the band Head East. Joe was a very creative and talented artist, drawing pictures from memory and designing graphic arts on computers. He also had a passion for car racing, and was an avid Husker and Denver Broncos football fan. In 1989, he and Terri started the first Fantasy Football League in Friend and it still continues today. He had the wonderful ability of making people laugh and was the jokester of the family. Joe's children and grandchildren were the most important part of his life.
