The former Miss Mattie Saunders, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George T. Saunders, she has long been identified with the social life of Paris, especially in music circles, she and her husband being active members of Paris Golf and Country Club.
Born in Paris, she was a graduate of Paris High School. She afterward studied music in New York under Edwin Hughes, and was a music teacher here a number of years. She was a member of the Paris Music Study Club and of the Women's Golf Association at Paris Golf and Country Club. She was a member of First Christian Church.
She was married 29 Oct 1913 to Roy Johnson, who survives besides her sister, Mrs. Lynn (Melita) Whiteside and a half-sister, Mrs. G. Cook, all of Paris.
