Maiden name posted is per name of parents found on her daughter Martha "Mattie" Cates TXDC.
That daughter Mattie is memorial# 46215343.

Per an unsourced suggestion from another contributor, another possible maiden name is ALLEN. Since no source was provided to me, I am assuming this to be from names listed in 1850 TN census(?) where a James & Lucinda Denton are found living in an Allen household.

The following was supplied by another contributor:
"You are correct on the maiden name, but the stone is wrong on her birth year.
U.S. and International Marriage Records, 1560-1900 has her born in 1832. The 1850 census for Tennessee has her born in 1832 and 4 years younger than James. The 1860 census for Texas has her born in 1935 but still 4 years younger than James. The 1870 has her born in 1835 but only one year younger than James. In the 1880 census, she was back to 1832 and four years younger than James; but the clincher is the 1900 Census with Sept. 1831."
They emigrated from Tennessee with her younger sister and brother-in-law Nancy Katherine "Katy" Davis and Charles Lewis Kelty. They also had a child that did not survive infancy. (by contributor #46987065)
