The Illness of Mrs. John K. Tallman
terminated fatallv, as had been feared,
Monday, her death taking place just be*
fore six o'clock.
Mary E. Cornwell was born* in Springport, December 24th, 1827. She was tbe
daughter of Joshua Cornwell, and was
one of six children, three of whom were
sons. On October 4th, 1848 in Scipio, she
became the wife of John K. Tallman, and
something over twenty-five years ago she
and her husband came to Auburn, where
they have since lived. Two sons have
been born to them, Humphrey and Selah
O, both of whom are residents of this
city. Of Mrs. Tallman's family
relatives, one sister and two brothers are
living John Cornwell Is in Auburn, today, Mrs. James Aiken, a sister, lives in
Texarkana, Ark; Mrs. W. C Cramer died
in Elmlra; Selah Cornwell a captain in the
old 138th Infantry, afterward tbe 9th
Artillery, died during the war. Mrs. Tailman has been eminently a domestic woman, attending in a strict wifely and
motherly way to the affairs of her household, and in the home from which she
has been so suddenly taken she will be
missed more than words can ever tell.
Many friends, too. will miss her open,
genial words and ways.
The funeral is appointed for Thursday,
at 4 p. M. from the late residence. 58 South Street, Auburn
