Mrs. Nellie Josephine King, 77, of Canton, died at 4 p.m. Monday (June 15, 1981) in St. Luke Hospital in Davenport, Iowa. She was born Oct. 7, 1903, in Lewis County, a daughter of Thomas and Hettie Mae Gaines McDermott. She married W. P. King Nov. 14, 1923, in St. Patrick. He survives. Mrs. King was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabelle. Also surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Mary Jones of San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. Paul (Callie) Boudreau, Miss Marge King and Mrs. Bernard (Geneva) Wiegand, all of Davenport, Mrs. James (Kathy) Hesse of Rock Island, Ill.; a brother, Russell McDermott of Canton; three sisters, Mrs. Ruby Powell of Hannibal, Mrs. Myrtle English of Williamstown and Mrs. Callie Besgrove of Euless, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Pat, and a brother. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Church, conducted by the Rev. P.J. Cletus. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. Davis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
